Registration by a provincial or territorial, or regional association as Registered Animal Health Technologist, Registered Veterinary Technician

Specific Skills
Administer medications and provide advanced emergency treatments to patients; Administer treatments as prescribed by veterinarian; Produce diagnostic radiographs, collect samples and perform other laboratory tests; Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under direction of veterinarian; Handle, restrain and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery; Counsel clients on animal health care; Collect blood, tissue or other samples from patients; Clean and maintain medical laboratory and laboratory equipment; Assist veterinarian before, during and after surgery; Assess patients to identify appropriate nursing interventions; Provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for animals; Provide wound and bandage care; Perform routine animal dental procedures and assist veterinarians with animal dentistry
