Job details
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year. Work setting: Hospital medical laboratories. Tasks: Collect blood, tissue or other samples from patients. Document observations on patients' specimens. Examine the results of the tests. Log patient samples and prepare them for testing. Set up medical laboratory equipment. Conduct routine laboratory tests and sample analyses. Clean and maintain medical laboratory and laboratory equipment. Discard specimens according to established safety procedures. Computer and technology knowledge: MS Outlook. MS Word. Area of specialization: Venipuncture. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Ability to work independently. Hand-eye co-ordination. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Repetitive tasks. Fast-paced environment. Walking.
