Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work setting: Commercial dental laboratory. Tasks: Design dental devices. Modify dental devices including full or partial dentures, orthodontic appliances, inlays, onlays, clasps and bands. Mould wax over dentures set-up. Prepare wax bite-blocks and impression trays. Polish and buff dentures. Construct dentures. Technical expertise (dental): Packing. Waxing-up. Polishing. Assembly. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Tight deadlines. Repetitive tasks. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Ability to distinguish between colours. Sitting. Hand-eye co-ordination. Personal suitability: Client focus. Efficient interpersonal skills. Judgement. Team player.
