Our commitment to excellence helps clients meet industry standards and satisfy their customers' expectations. *Summary* We are seeking a detail-oriented Inspector to join our team in Canada. The Inspector will play a crucial role in maintaining our high standards by conducting thorough inspections of lumber products at our facility in Canada. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to quality assurance processes that uphold industry excellence. Location in Ontario: monthly visit Timmins (1 day), Elk Lake (2 days total), Nair Centre (2 days) - total about 5 days a month. *Responsibilities* Conduct detailed inspections of lumber and wood products to ensure compliance with the National Lumber Grades Authority (NLGA). *Responsibilities* * Requires flexibility as travel is require to cover accounts in assigned territory. * Perform inspections on lumber and timbers to ensure the grade, moisture content, species, size etc. May require the use of various hand tools such as a tape measure, digital calipers, moisture meter, etc. * Check kiln records (where applicable), HT record keeping, chain-of-custody paperwork, and quality of HT and/or IPPC stamping in compliance with the CFIA D-13-01 and CLSAB Schedule C. * Report results of inspections in a timely manner through Mobitask reports completed on the supplied tablet. When excessive defects are observed, the * The inspector shall notify the applicable supervisor or facility contact to help identify non-complying loads and arrange to get them corrected. * Train facility production staff and employees including Lumber Graders, Supervisors, and Quality Control staff in the applicable standards. Will monitor all to ensure that the applicable standards are being followed, and they are in compliance. * Maintain proper documentation procedures ? Prepare oral and written reports on plant audits and other procedures * Solicit new business ? Always alert for an opportunity to promote the services CSI provides; also promote additional service within the client base. * *Qualifications* * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills which include being courteous to all office staff, management & mill personnel. * Time Management with proven ability to meet deadlines. * Attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving. * Understand NLGA grade rules and the ability to grade lumber proficiently. * Understand how the CLSAB Regulations and the ALSC Enforcement Regulations work. And communicate provisions to the clients as needed. * Understand the various CFIA Plant Health programs. * Accompany the CLSAB or ALSC field representatives when possible. * Work in a safe manner and encourage others to adhere to safety measures. * Proficient with iPad and Microsoft Office 365 which includes Excel & Word. * Expect on-the-job territory training until proficient. * Commitment to safety and quality standards. * *Call-To-Action* * If you are passionate about maintaining high-quality standards in the lumber industry, we invite you to bring your expertise to Canadian Softwood Inspection.
