Education: College/CEGEP. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Fabrication. Fitting. Control equipment manufacturer. Tasks: Assemble mechanical parts into subassemblies. Assemble, fit and install prefabricated parts to form subassemblies or finished products. Assemble or connect electrical components. Position, align and adjust parts for proper fit and assembly. Connect cables, tubes and wires. Operate automated assembling equipment. Fasten parts together using fastening and joining equipment. Operate or tend automated assembling equipment. Operate small cranes to transport or position larger parts. Inspect finished products for proper functioning. Check mechanical assemblies and subassemblies for alignment and proper functioning. Test and check electrical assemblies and wiring for proper connection. Make minor adjustments and repairs. Wire electrical connections for switchboards and panel boards. Read blueprint, schemas and drawings. Fit electrical control devices into switchboards and panelboards. Collect, record and summarize inspection results. Check final assembly for adherence to quality control standards. Assemble panelboard and switchboard cabinets and install bus bars.
