Tasks: Lay out reference points and patterns. Assemble and fit plates and sections to form structures. Weld or bolt sections together. Set up and operate heavy-duty metal-working machines. Construct patterns and templates. Install fabricated components in final product. Rig, hoist and move materials to storage areas or within worksite. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Metal Fabricator Trade Certification. Metal Fabricator (Fitter) Red Seal Certificate. Welding techniques: MIG. TIG. Flux core arc welding (FCAW). Gas metal arc welding (GMAW). Equipment and machinery experience: Brakes and presses. Cutting torches. Drills. Grinder. Shears. Saws. Area of specialization: Structural metal or steel. Platework. Bridges. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Manual dexterity. Hand-eye co-ordination. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Attention to detail.
