To assist in the development and implementation of neighbourhood-based recreational, educational, and skill development programs for youth ages 12-20. Support day to day operations of youth programming and events including but not limited to; weekly youth programming, one off events, and planning volunteering events for youth who are residents of the Glen Cairn and Pond Mills neighbourhoods and surrounding areas. Youth worker must create a welcoming and safe spaces for 2SLGBTQ+ youth and their allies. The position emphasizes outreach to marginalized youth, collaboration with community organizations, and the delivery of programs focused on education, pride, and personal development as well as to assist in the development and implementation of neighbourhood-based recreational, educational, and skill development programs for youth ages 12-24. Support day to day operations of youth programming and events including but not limited to weekly art program, one off events, and planning volunteering events for youth who are residents of the Glen Cairn and Pond Mills neighbourhoods and surrounding areas. * Reporting to Supervisor, assist with the development, implementation, facilitation and supervision of safe activities for youth including summer pop-up?s, skill-based programming, leadership programs, volunteering & youth led events; * Overseeing day to day youth tasks, ensuring organization and smooth operations of programming; * Supervise off site trips and activities, ensuring appropriate measures are taken regarding safety of participants; * Acting as main contact to Youth Coordinator (supervisor) at designated site; * Collaborating with team members, and ensuring everyone works as a team; * Support centre?s youth outreach including but not limited to organization, packaging, and delivery of essential basic needs items and/or programming needs to community residents; * Support training, mentoring, and supervision of youth staff (ages 15-18); * Ensure the facility, properties, activity areas, equipment and supplies used for the program are prepared, secure and clean; * Maintain daily records of attendance, program activities, and safety checks; * Act as an appropriate/positive role model for area youth; * Manage program participant behaviour and immediately report concerns to the Supervisor; * Liaise with parents, caregivers and community groups; * Promote programs and activities and assist with special events; * Participate in relevant staff training, staff meetings and prepare all appropriate paperwork; * Perform other related duties as assigned. * Candidates must be 18 ? 30 years of age at the start of employment; * Six months to one year of job related experience preferred; * Some secondary education in a human care area of study (CYW, SSW, BSW, BScN, Med, Education, RN, etc.) two years of community college preferred; * Must have a Current CPR and First Aid or a willingness to obtain PRIOR to start date ? MANDATORY; * Must have a current Police Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) prior to start date; * Previous experience with diverse populations; * Good leadership and interpersonal skills; * Ability to follow direction and work as a team member; * Ability to speak French, Spanish, or Arabic would be an asset; * Driver?s license and reliable vehicle an asset.
