Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work setting: Hospital/medical facility or clinic. Tasks: Assist in surgery . Address and document symptoms and changes in patients' conditions. Assess patients to identify appropriate nursing interventions. Collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary health team to plan, implement, co-ordinate and evaluate patient care in consultation with patients and their families. Conduct disease screening. Deliver health education programs. Dispense and administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician. Operate or monitor medical apparatus or equipment. Provide nursing care. Supervise licensed practical nurses and other nursing staff. Supervision: Staff in various areas of responsibility. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Intravenous (IV) therapy Certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certificate. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate. Eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse by the province/territory of work. Licensure as a Registered Nurse by provincial or territorial authorities. Area of specialization: Emergency room.
