Job details
Education: Bachelor's degree. Tasks: Advise customers on indications, contraindications, adverse effects, drug interactions and dosage. Dispense prescribed pharmaceuticals to customers or to other health care professionals. Order and maintain stock of pharmaceutical supplies. Advise customers on selection and use of non-prescription medication. Check prescriptions for proper dosage. Compound prescribed pharmaceutical products by calculating, measuring and mixing the right quantities of drugs and other ingredients. Hire and train staff. Maintain medication profiles of customers including registry of poisons and narcotic and controlled drugs. Manage the storage, packaging and distribution of medicinal products . Supervise and co-ordinate the activities of other pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, pharmacy technicians and other staff. Evaluate labelling, packaging and advertising of drug products. Leading/instructing individuals. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Pharmacy Examining Boards of Canada Certification. Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Repetitive tasks. Fast-paced environment.
