We are looking for a strategic and hands-on leader to manage, optimize, and evolve our internal tech stack so our people, builders, and partners operate with clarity, efficiency, and confidence. *Summary* The Welder/Fitter role will focus on high-efficiency structural steel assembly using Metal Core Arc Welding (MCAW), primarily in the horizontal position. The role will combine manual fitting skills with specialized production jigs to assemble and weld complex structural components with speed and precision. *Responsibilities* * Execute high-quality, high-deposition welds using MCAW processes, with a heavy emphasis on consistent horizontal position applications. * Weld structural attachments onto Wide Flange (WF) beams, HSS tubing, channels, angles, and heavy plates. * Load, secure, and align raw materials into production jigs and fixtures to maximize assembly speed and maintain strict dimensional tolerances. * Set up, calibrate, and adjust welding power sources, wire feeders, and shielding gas flow rates for optimal performance. * Interpret structural blueprints, engineering shop drawings, and welding symbols to execute exact project specifications. * Perform manual fit-up, measurement, and tack welding when components fall outside standard jig setups. * Produce clean, slag-free, uniform weld beads that comply with internal quality standards and structural welding codes. * Visually inspect completed joints for defects; utilize grinders, torches, or carbon arc gouging to repair and modify components as needed. * Maintain a clean workstation and strictly adhere to all safety protocols, including the consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). * Perform routine maintenance on welding torches, liners, drive rolls, and production jigs to prevent spatter buildup and mechanical downtime. * Coordinate with overhead crane operators, material handlers, and supervisors to meet daily production schedules and project deadlines. *Qualifications* * Minimum 2?3 years of experience in structural steel fabrication or a production welding environment with valid CWB ticket an asset. * Proven expertise in MCAW welding, specifically maintaining high travel speeds and clean bead profiles in the horizontal position. * Proficient in using production assembly jigs, clamps, and basic manual measurement tools (tape measures, squares). * Ability to accurately read and interpret complex industrial shop drawings and standard weld symbols. * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and safely maneuver around heavy structural steel components. * Strong problem-solving skills. * Effective communication and teamwork skills. * Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies in the welding industry. *Additional Information* * Full time, permanent role * Competitive wage * Benefit program * Uniforms supplied * Days: 6:00 am - 3:00 pm ( Mondays to Fridays) * Aft: 3:00 pm - 1:30 am (Mondays to Thursdays) * Wknd: 3:00 am - 3:00 pm (Friday to Sunday) *Compensation: *The anticipated base hourly range for this role is $26/hr - $30/hr.
