Grounded in First Nation culture and values and drawing on personal strengths and traditions of families, the Birth Support Worker is responsible for providing women, their partners, and families with continuous emotional support, physical comfort, and assistance in obtaining information before, during or after childbirth. This may include very specific cultural practices that the birthing mother, and/or family wish to incorporate into their birth experience. Responsible for providing cultural support for moms and their families. The Birth Support Worker acts as a liaison to Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Traditional Healers, and health personnel, as desired by women and their families and will report to the Community Health-Based Services Supervisor. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities* Grade 12 or equivalent is required. Completion of Birth Doula Studies Program/or equivalent is considered an asset. Demonstrate knowledge, respect, and understanding of First Nations culture and traditions, and traditional birthing practices. Demonstrate agency values in their daily work with BRT6HC First Nations Communities, clients, and co-workers. Knowledge of the organizations strategic priorities, values, goals, services, and programs. Previous experience working in First Nations communities is considered an asset. Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Publisher) and technological platforms such as Microsoft Teams. Abilities and behaviours associated with the core competencies with an emphasis upon planning, organizing, analytical and problem solving, interpersonal, collaboration, teamwork, and leadership. Demonstrate ability to handle extremely sensitive information and documents. Ability to work independently and as a member of the multidisciplinary team. A successful criminal record check with vulnerable sector and a valid drivers license.- Location North Battleford, SK
