How do I create a student job posting?

On Job Bank, a "student job" is a type of posting for people who are enrolled in an education program. These jobs should promote skill development, knowledge gain, and learning.

To create a student job posting:

  1. Sign in to Job Bank for Employers
  2. Click "Job postings" on your dashboard menu, then select "Create a new job posting".
  3. Choose the employer and click "Proceed to Job title".
  4. Enter the job title, click "Search" to select the appropriate title from the list, then click "Proceed to Target audience".
  5. Select "Students" as the job type and complete the rest of the page.
  6. Click "Proceed to Job details" and enter the job details.
  7. Click "Proceed to Requirements" and add the required skills, credentials or education.
  8. In the "Education" section:
    • Choose the minimum level of education required.
    • Select "Student status" and identify the category of applicants you are looking to hire.
    • Enter the required "Field of study".
  9. Complete the rest of the page and click "Proceed to How to apply" to choose application methods, screening questions, and other details.
  10. Click "Proceed to Preview" to review your posting, then click "Submit".

When your job posting is approved, its status will change to "Advertised" and you will receive an email notification. The job posting will be flagged as a "Student job", so job seekers can easily find it in search results. Note: Student job postings are visible to all on Job Bank, whether they are signed in or not.

Important: Only create a student job posting if you want to hire students. Student job offers are not part of government programs, such as the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) or Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ).

Tip: You can also choose to receive message notifications when your job posting is approved and advertised. To do this, log in to your user account and go to the "Communication preferences" tab. Then, select "Job posting approved and advertised" under "Messages" and click "Save". You can update your communication preferences at any time.
