Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work setting: Estimating. Quantity surveying. Willing to relocate. Tasks: Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs. Prepare master format estimates (Class A). Prepare elemental format estimates (Classes B, C, D). Operate CADD and other computer software systems. Provide economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Project cash flow and financing requirements. Create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets and bids forms. Utilize quantity take-off procedures. Advise on tendering procedures. Analyze tenders and recommend awards. Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates. Type of experience: Civil. Commercial and/or industrial construction. Institutional construction. Residential construction. Project size estimating experience: $100,001 - $500,000.
