Job details
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work site environment: Commercial aviation. Outdoors. At heights. Noisy. Aircraft testing. Instructing. Tasks: Fly fixed wing aircrafts or helicopters. Instruct student pilots in procedures and techniques of flying aircraft and in ground-school subjects such as navigation, radio procedures and flying regulations. Monitor operation of engine and aircraft systems during flight. Train licenced pilots for additional certification. Train and prepare pilots for examination. Conduct in-flight tests and monitor functioning of aircraft equipment and systems during flights. Conduct pre-flight inspection of aircraft and check passenger and cargo distribution to ensure that weight and balance specifications are met. Contact control towers for takeoff clearances, arrival instructions and other information. Maintain communications with flight dispatchers and weather forecasters and respond to and report in-flight emergencies and malfunctions. Prepare flight evaluation reports. Supervision: 16-20 people. More than 20 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Commercial Pilot Licence - fixed wing. First Aid Certificate. Transport Canada¿flight instructor rating. Private Pilot and Commercial Pilot Licence - ultra-light airplane. Security and safety: Basic security clearance. Enhanced reliability security clearance. Criminal record check. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Work under pressure. Physically demanding. Attention to detail. 20/20 vision. Hand-eye co-ordination. Ability to distinguish between colours.
