We need dedicated professionals, like you, to join us in that important work.<p>When you join ASD-E, you will be connected to a network of caring, enthusiastic, ambitious professionals, focused on providing a positive and innovative learning and working environment.<p>The Opportunity: <p>Position: Casual Bus Driver <p>Department: Transportation<p>Internal/External: External<p>Employment Type: Casual<p>Salary: $23.70 hourly + 4% vacation pay<p>Union: CUPE 1253<p>Reports to: Transportation Manager <p>Summary of Accountabilities: Responsible for the operation of a heavy motor vehicle to safely transport students to and from schools and activities.<p> Includes the safe, efficient operation of a school bus, some knowledge of the mechanical operation of a bus and the responsibility for maintaining a mechanically sound vehicle.<p> The names of successful applicants, once trained, will be placed on a replacement driver list and may be called to work on an as-required basis.<p> School bus drivers typically work a few hours in the morning and a few hours in the afternoon (Monday-Friday). Drivers do not work on weekends, statutory holidays, summer break, Christmas break, March break & snow days, however, extra hours may be available if desired (school field trips, after school events, weekend sport tournaments, etc)<p> Qualifications: Graduation from High School<p> Drivers license with a clear driving record, a good medical record with no heart conditions<p> Strong orientation towards safety and good interpersonal and communication skills<p> Selected candidates will be required to complete a week-long District training course to be held May 13-17, 2024.To operate a school bus, you will require a class 2BE drivers license. If you do not currently have a class 2BE license, we provide all required training to help you obtain one. The process involves: Complete a 5-day training course (May 13-17, 2024), obtain a clean criminal record check, vulnerable sector check, a drivers abstract, a vision test, a written test, and a road test. Once a 2BE license is obtained, we provide paid behind the wheel training, and reimbursement for most licensing costs.<p> Employment with Anglophone East offers: 4-hour minimum call-in<p> Typically, the same model of bus (automatic transmission)<p> Potential to park the bus at your home, or a nearby depot<p> An average day consists of a morning shift and an afternoon shift<p> Casual bus drivers can pick and choose work assignmentsOnly those invited to interview will be contacted.
