Stein Valley Nlakapamux School (SVNS) is seeking a full-time experienced School Counsellor who will who will be an integral part of our school-based team. This position will be responsible for providing direct social-emotional, academic, career-vocational counselling and consultation to students (elementary, secondary and adult) and their families and supporting staff.<p>Stein Valley Nlakapamux School (SVNS) is a well-established and growing Independent School centrally located in the Fraser Canyon (3 hours from Vancouver and Kelowna, 2 hours from Kamloops). SVNS offers K4 to Grade 12 along with an Adult Diploma Program. We are an innovative school that weaves Nlakapamux culture and language with 21st century learning. SVNS provides our students with the most interesting and genuine learning experiences possible. We have an amazing agriculture project, skate park, and a wide range of extra-curricular programs such as clubs and sport teams. <p>SVNS provides its employees with a competitive salary, moving loan subsidy, full group health (including pension and life) and dental benefits. Fully furnished teacher housing may also be available. Our unique school year starts at the end of July with four semesters that are based on the seasons. Each semester is nine or ten weeks with a 2 or 3 week break in between. Our team of teachers, support staff, board members, and community members focus on student success by providing a meaningful quality educational program.<p>EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS <p>Masters Degree in Education Psychology or Counselling Psychology<p>BC Teacher Certification and member of the Teacher Regulation Branch, preferred<p>Teaching experience at the elementary or high school level is an asset<p>Demonstrated skills and knowledge in counselling children and part of the School Based Team<p>Demonstrated Knowledge and Experience in Trauma Informed Practice<p>Excellent inter-personal and communication skills<p>Proven ability to establish, open, trusting and respectful relationships with youth <p>Personal attributes include: caring, compassion, empathy and sensitivity <p>Experience working with First Nation children, adults and families<p>Innovative, creative, team player and resourceful <p>Strong organizational and planning skills to accommodate multi-grades and diverse needs<p>Clear Criminal Record Check working with vulnerable populations.HOW TO JOIN OUR INNOVATIVE & DEDICATED TEAM <p>Send a completed application that includes the following: <p> Cover Letter, Resume, BC Certification and copy of TQS Card <p> Recent graduates must have clinical practicum reports and/or teacher evaluation reports <p> Minimum of 3 recent ReferencesSend application to : Edith Loring-Kuhanga, School Administrator <p>PO Bag 300, Lytton, BC, V0K 1Z0; Email: administrator@svns.ca
