March 11, 2024 <p> HUMAN RESOURCES ~ POSTING BULLETIN<p> TEACHING POSITION AVAILABLE <p> 24-039 A temporary .1 FTE Teacher Librarian teaching position is available at Sayward School , effective September 03, 2024 through June 30, 2025. Sayward School is a small rural school located in the Village of Sayward (About the Village of Sayward) on the beautiful east coast of Vancouver Island, approximately 75km north of Campbell River. The school serves the families living within the Village and the surrounding valley, and offers education to students from Kindergarten to Grade 5. Residents of the area enjoy access to an abundance of the natural riches Vancouver Island offers; such as hiking, fishing, camping, and skiing. The area also has a thriving agricultural community due to its proximity to the Sayward Valley. Please note there is a possibility that part-time positions may be combined with other part-time positionsin the school. <p> School District 72 operates throughout a large geographic area. Campbell River and Quadra Island schools and our school board office are located on the traditional territory of the Lig??i?dax?? people. School District 72 also encompasses the traditional territory of the Klahoose (Cortes), Kmoks (Sayward), and Xwemalhkwu (Bute Inlet) First Nations.<p> The District also respects and values the relationships with all other First Nations, Mtis, and Inuit peoples who reside in these territories. It is with respectful consideration that the programs and services provided to students and staff acknowledge their histories, cultural contributions, and contemporary concerns. Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience: <p> Relevant university qualifications;<p> A comprehensive understanding of current educational practices outlined in the BC Ministry of Education documents;<p> Committed to the craft of teaching, best practices, and standards of professional practice;<p> Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, communicative, and problem-solving skills;<p> Flexible and adaptive; and, <p> A commitment to professional development and growth. The successful candidates for these positions must have: A minimum of three (3) university library courses;<p> One (1) year of school librarian experience;<p> Digital and information technology literacy skills applicable to research and library including the ability to manage INSIGNIA software;<p> A demonstrated commitment in support of robust literacy development;<p> An understanding and experience in resource management and evaluation;<p> Knowledge of current educational practices and trends;<p> The ability to coordinate support staff work;<p> The ability to provide instructional support to teaching staff; and,<p> The ability to provide leadership in school and district activities to support the school. All SD72 teachers will have a demonstrated understanding and commitment to teaching practice that embodies: an inquiry-based and collaborative approach to the delivery of the BC Curriculum;<p> Social/Emotional Learning and an in-depth knowledge of the BC Mental Health Framework;<p> the incorporation of the First Nations Principles of Learning; diversity, inclusion, and equity;<p> support for the growth and development of individual learners through differentiated learning techniques; and,<p> the ability to work collaboratively with fellow teachers to plan, develop, and implement an extraordinary learni
