Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Architectural technology/technician. Engineering technology, general. Architectural drafting and architectural CAD/CADD. Building construction technology. Construction management. or equivalent experience. Asset languages: Portuguese. Work site environment: At heights. Noisy. Outdoors. Work setting: Construction. Various locations. Renovation. Residential. Tasks: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Survey building locations and levels. Instruct apprentices. Supervise other workers. Estimate costs and materials. Operate CADD and other computer software systems. Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Personal protective equipment (PPE) training. Working at heights training. First Aid Certificate. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Student status: Part time enrollment. Equipment and machinery experience: Hand tools. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Handling heavy loads.
