Those internal candidates, who are already approved Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) classified substitutes should not apply to this new job posting.EIPS requires individuals to work on a casual 'on-call' basis as substitute Educational Assistants. We are looking to increase substitute support to all school locations.<p>Key Duties/Responsibilities:<p> Educational Assistants (EAs) assist teachers with many instructional and non-instructional tasks in the classroom and with other school activities. EAs work as members of the school and student support team. EAs either work with a particular special needs student or a group of students within a class or in a special program. EAs may provide personal care and additional assistance for students depending on their particular needs.<p>Duties will include: working with students individually or in small groups<p> working with students with disabilities<p> lifts, transfers, and personal care of students may be required Education/Experience: <p>Requirement: High School Diploma <p>Candidates having the following qualifications would be considered an asset: training or experience working with students with disabilities<p> behaviour management training<p> courses related to working with students with special needs<p> excellent interpersonal skills the ability to work with students under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher<p> the ability to provide personal care for students<p> Emergency First Aid and CPR<p> Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training<p> Educational Assistant Certificate or comparable educationOnly online applications will be accepted.
