The position also provides oversight on the Street & Traffic By-law and leads reviews and changes as necessary to advance Council goals and priorities. This position works with Senior Engineers to manage the Branch?s Capital Programs and coordinates with Operations Branches to implement changes to reflect Council policies. The position oversees a number of highly technical positions and is responsible for the signing and sealing of drawings and designs according to the City?s Organizational Quality Management Plan for traffic signals, traffic control devices and signage. This position is also responsible for overseeing the management of the budgets for signal related annual capital programs.The position reports to the Branch Manager, Traffic & Data Management Branch and provides oversight to a team of staff comprised of a Technical Supervisor and Engineering Assistants.Specific Duties & Responsibilities Works with Senior Engineers in the Branch in planning, developing, managing and maintaining the City?s arterial street network and traffic control signs and regulations Provides oversight and project management on all internally designed traffic sign plans and acts as the Engineer of record as required Provides oversight on the management of the annual capital programs for new signs and traffic control devices for the management of the arterial street network Leads discussions with Operations Superintendents in the development of priorities and strategies to deliver the annual capital programs Provides guidance and reviews traffic sign plans and designs developed by consultants Works closely with Operations staff and external partners agencies on scheduling, construction, and cost-sharing of traffic control devices Provides oversight on the application of traffic control devices in the City Provides oversight on the Street & Traffic By-law and leads reviews and changes as necessary to advance Council goals and priorities Reviews and seeks approval from the Branch Manager on the new design guidelines for traffic control plans and new policies and practices that reflect Council priorities Supervises and/or reviews analysis of network operations and capacity Provides guidance on complex requests from the public Provides direction supervision of a CEI and several Engineering Assistants in the branch on daily work, long term program development both operating and capital Provides oversight on development of design standards Supervises highly technical design staff undertaking design, asset assessment including work planning, performance planning and review, attendance management and hiring as required. Provides technical expertise in the research and review of new products and methods of traffic control devices Prepares technical studies, reports (memos, Council reports, etc.), cost estimates and presentations on complex design issues as
