Vancouver Island North District, BC <p>Principal or Vice-Principal <p> Cheslakees Elementary School, Port McNeill BC <p>Commencing: August 1, 2024 <p>School District 85 (Vancouver Island North) is seeking applications for a dynamic, energetic, and inspirational leader for the position of: Principal or Vice-Principal of Cheslakees Elementary School and Early Learning Centre , depending on qualifications and experience. The successful applicant will inspire by example, be able to build on the current strengths of the school and community, be visionary, passionate, and knowledgeable in all areas of the Early Learning Framework. <p>Cheslakees Elementary School is located in the beautiful, traditional territory of the Kwakwaka'wakw. Cheslakees Elementary values and prioritizes Indigenous education while fostering meaningful relationships with local Indigenous communities. Through partnerships with Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members, the school provides students with opportunities to learn about Indigenous cultures, languages, and histories, fostering reconciliation and promoting Indigenous ways of knowing and being. <p>Qualifications: Holds a BC Teacher's Certificate of Qualification <p> Demonstrated successful K-7 teaching and leading experience <p> Completion of, or evidence of enrollment in, a Master's of Education Degree <p> Specialization in Early Learning Applications should be accompanied by evidence of successful practice of the following: Building and maintaining a learning culture that engages and inspires students, staff, and community <p> Leading through a community school perspective with emphasis on relationships of trust and respect <p> Working with Indigenous learners, families, and communities <p> Creating individualized learning opportunities for students including place-based themes <p> Promotion of positive attitudes, self-esteem, and respect among all students in a safe learning environment <p> Expecting and leading an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse abilities <p> Ability to provide effective and flexible leadership while working as part of a team <p> Excellent oral and written communication skills <p> Sound decision making and organizational abilities <p> Ability to independently problem solve Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Statement <p>SD85 is committed to strengthening and contributing to an inclusive school community.
