The ?Natural Place to live, work, play and invest?, the City of Pitt Meadows is a picturesque community of just over 18,000 residents, boasting a small town atmosphere with all the urban amenities, beautiful outdoor environment and a great quality of life, located just one hour east of downtown Vancouver.Access Support Worker(Summer Student Positions)(CUPE Time-durated)The City of Pitt Meadows is hiring an Access Support Worker to support a variety of children?s recreation programs in our community over the summer months. This position supports and assists children and youth with diverse abilities in participating in our variety of programs. This role is a key part in encouraging and integrating our child and youth participants with varying abilities. Our programs include full-day camps, recreational activities, and social programs. Some supervision will be provided, but successful applicants should be able to work independently and exercise fair judgement. Hours are expected to be 35 - 40 hours per week. You must be willing to work various shifts from Monday through Sunday, 5:45am - 10:15pm as scheduled. The term for these positions is June 24, 2024 until the end of August 2024 (exact date to be confirmed). Successful candidates may have the opportunity to continue as Auxiliary staff upon completion of the term. *These positions are partially funded by the Government of Canada Summer Jobs 2024 Program, which stipulates that all applicants must be under 30 years old and available to work full-time hours from July to August* Qualifications:Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by courses related to the work, plus related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Applicants must be under 30 years old. Experience working with social, cultural and recreational needs of children and youth with varying abilities. Experience providing excellent customer service to children and youth with diverse abilities and behavioral needs. Driver?s License for the Province of British Columbia. Standard First Aid and CPR - Level C. What We Offer:CUPE Wage Rate - $22.78 per hour (+12% in lieu of benefits) *The City of Pitt Meadows is a Living Wage Employer, therefore the Metro Vancouver Living Wage Amount ($25.68/hr effective May 6, 2024) will be applied to this position.
