Regional District of Okanagan-SimilkameenHead LifeguardJob No: EXT2427Location: Keremeos, BCLocated in the south-central region of B.C., the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) covers an area over 10,400 km2 and is renowned for its orchards, vineyards and golf courses, as well as its widely varied landscape including deserts, mountains and valleys, pristine lakes and outdoor recreational opportunities.The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen is currently recruiting for a temporary, full-time Head Lifeguard to join the Similkameen Recreation team in Keremeos, BC.The term for this position is anticipated to start in May and end in early September.Reporting to the Manager of Recreation & Facilities, the Head Lifeguard position is responsible for lifeguarding and aquatic instruction for a variety of age levels and abilities, providing supervision/mentoring to lifeguards/instructors, performing minor facility maintenance, cash handling and providing an overall safe and pleasant customer service experience for patrons at the Similkameen Community Pool.Qualifications: Current Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard (NL) certification, Pool Option. Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instruction certification, optional but preferred. Current Standard First Aid with CPR C/AED certification. A minimum of two years of experience in an aquatic leadership role is preferred. Previous lifeguard and instructing experience. Ability to work independently and efficiently, with limited supervision. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Ability to pass and maintain a Police Information Check (PIC) including the vulnerable sector section.This temporary, full-time position is included in the BCGEU bargaining unit. The hourly wage for the position is $25.22 plus 15% in lieu of all benefits and pension (total hourly wage is $29.00).
