As a Fire and Life Safety Educator, you will play a vital role in this mission in designing and implementing comprehensive fire safety and 911 education programs, conducting dynamic presentations and workshops, and utilizing various media platforms to disseminate critical information all tailored to diverse audiences, from children to seniors.What You'll Do:Develop and implement innovative fire safety and prevention programs for schools, community groups, and businesses. Conduct engaging presentations, workshops, and training sessions on fire prevention, evacuation procedures, and emergency preparedness. Collaborate with local agencies, schools, and community organizations to promote fire safety initiatives and events. Collaborate with stakeholders to conduct thorough community risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate specific fire safety challenges. Utilize social media and other media platforms to develop media plans, advertising, promotions, and press releases related to fire and emergency planning activities. Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries during fire incidents or emergencies, ensuring timely and accurate dissemination of information. Maintain accurate records of fire incidents, community risk assessment findings, and social media engagement metrics. Participate in community outreach events, fire drills, and public awareness campaigns to raise awareness and promote safety.What You'll Bring:Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences of all ages. Knowledge of fire safety principles, evacuation procedures, and emergency preparedness best practices. Experience in developing educational materials and delivering training sessions preferred. Strong leadership skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Sound judgment, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to handle confidential or politically sensitive matters. Advanced skills in program development, multimedia use, and social media management. Ability to prioritize workload and perform tasks without direct supervision. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.Required Qualifications:Successful completion of Grade 12 or high school equivalency diploma. Certification in NFPA 1031 Fire Inspector, NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Level 1, and NFPA 1035 Fire and Life Safety Educator Level 1. Five (5) years of directly related work experience, preferably with a dynamic and diverse Fire and Emergency Services organization. Possess and maintain a valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Incident Command System (ICS) 200. NFPA 1001 Firefighter considered an asset. Bachelor of Education degree preferred.
