Drafting Technician
Trenergy is a 100 percent locally owned fabrication plant in St. Catharines, Ontario specializing in the manufacture of boilers, pressure vessels, rail tank cars and more. We are looking for an innovative and eager individual with strong mechanical aptitude to join our team. We offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefit package including RRSP contributions.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Reviewing all customer drawings and engineering to ensure compliance with fabrication requirements and specifications.
* Preparing material requisitions using JobBOSS.
* Performing ASME code calculations to produce pressure vessel drawings for fabrication.
* Developing fabrication drawings using AutoCAD.
* Communicating with customers to receive clarification on drawings, and to resolve fabrication issues.
* Communicating with suppliers to resolve fabrication issues.
* Liaising with manufacturing to resolve material or design discrepancies.
* Developing templates and fabrication aids based on product design.
* Maintaining project drawing files both electronic and hardcopy.
* Providing consultation to the tube bending department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Post-secondary diploma in Mechanical, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology or equivalent Degree/Diploma
* Proficiency with AutoCAD
* Experience in a manufacturing environment
* Experience with reading drawings and interpreting specifications
* Familiarity with a variety of steel and steel alloy products
* Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as welding in its many forms, NDE and various forms of shaping and machining metal
* Experience in an office environment
* Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel with familiarity with Access and MS Projects
Required experience:
* 3 to 5 years of drafting experience
