Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Animal hospital. Veterinary clinic. Tasks: Bathe and shampoo animals. Prepare food and feed animals. Clean and disinfect cages, pens, aquariums, kennels, runs, stall and enclosures. Conduct anals glands treatment. Keep records of animals treated. Assist with inoculation and treatment of animals. Clean animal ears. Maintain and order supplies. Provide flea bath treatments to animals. Clip animal nails. Perform expert clipping on show animals with tools including clippers, shears and massage sponges. Perform dental cleaning on domestic animals. Organise day-to-day business operations. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Veterinary assistant course. Type of pets groomed: All breeds of dogs. Cats. Animal specialization: Domestic animals/pets (cats, kittens, puppies, dogs, etc.). Exotic birds. Hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, etc.. Laboratory animals (rats, monkeys, etc.). Reptiles. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Bending, crouching, kneeling.
