About the PositionThe Maintenance Mechanic will keep all equipment in good working condition based on required standards, answer maintenance calls and provide preventive maintenance and breakdown support as needed by the shops. They will install and maintain machinery and equipment using hoists, forklift trucks, manual and power tools. The equipment is used for flour separation and includes several centrifuges, pumps, separation equipment, dryer, palletizing system, bagging sieve, extrusion, reactor and other equipment of different technologies.Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform work according to established safety rulesTroubleshoot mechanical problemsRepair and refurbish mechanical equipmentDemonstrate strong ability for teamwork while being able to work independently with minimum supervisionRecommend equipment changes or upgrades to improve machine reliability and performanceInterpret equipment drawings and documentationDocument work and changes to equipment and systemsAdequately communicate orally and in writingAnswer emergency service calls, during the week and weekends, when required by operations. Calls are based in turn over a period of 8 weeks, 4 hours are paid during the call week and 4 hours per trip.Required Skills and QualificationsA high level of mechanical skillsThorough knowledge of the occupational health and public safety program standardsMust be familiar with standardized industrial procedures, practices and conceptsProblem-solving creativity is requiredGood communication skills and ability to work with tight deadlinesMust be reliable and able to work independently and adapt to circumstancesThe applicant must have good troubleshooting skills through careful attention to detailFamiliarity with Microsoft Office software is essentialDemonstrate a high standard of work ethicMust be able to climb stairs, lift certain loads, work in a standing or sitting position for long periods, work in confined spaces, work at heights without experiencing vertigo, and bend over or kneel to reach certain partsThe applicant must be able to work in a variety of high and low temperature environments or in locations requiring a breathing apparatusThe applicant must show a keen interest in performing the job and achieving the expected results
