Position: Out of Scope Journeyperson Mechanic based out of Assiniboia<p>Date Posted: April 26, 2024<p>Closing Date: Suitable pool<p>Location: Assiniboia <p> Position Type: Permanent <p> Start Date: As soon as possible<p>FTE: 1.0 <p> Hours of Work: 8 hours per day<p>Job Summary: The Mechanic inspects, diagnoses, repairs and services mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and components of school buses, and other Division owned vehicles.<p>Education & Qualifications: A valid journeyperson certificate in motor mechanics. <p> A minimum of Grade 12 diploma from a recognized educational institution as approved by the Board of Education of General Educational Development (GED)<p> A vehicle safety inspection certificate<p> A valid Class 1-5 drivers license<p> A minimum of two (2) years experience in school bus or heavy equipment repair<p> A minimum of two (2) years experience with gas, propane, and diesel engines<p> Must have own tools<p> Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently in a time sensitive environment<p> Must be very safety conscious<p> Strong work ethic and positive team attitudeNote: Consideration will be given to applicants who are in their 3rd or 4th year apprenticeship program and/or do not meet all of the minimum certification and experience requirementsPhysical Requirements: The ability to do heavy work is required (i.e., exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects). Employees must be physically fit and able to handle various tasks involving lifting, bending, twisting, turning, and climbing.Wage & Benefits: Prairie South School Division offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
