Employment Specialist - Achieve (TS13)Education and LanguagePictou CampusStellarton, Nova ScotiaThis position may be eligible for hybrid or remote work after demonstrating successful progression in proficiency in the positionSchool of Access Education and LanguageTerm Full-Time Position: Commencing approximately August 26th, 2024 and ending approximately December 20th 2024.Application deadline is 11:59pm, May 14th, 2024Competition No. 2425-048Salary range: $52,720.85 to $61,767.93 annuallyResponsibilitiesWhat you will be doingThe Employment Specialist is responsible to the College/campus for the facilitation and support of employability skill development for participants with disabilities in Achieve Program.As a member of the Achieve Program you will work closely with employers, the business community and service providers.You will provide leadership and guidance that will enable persons with disabilities to obtain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes for long-term employment. Specifically, you will support the development of employability skills, provide job coaching and coordinate work experiences.QualificationsQualifications and Occupational Experience:The minimum educational qualification for this position is a post-secondary diploma in human services, social services or related discipline orYou have a minimum of three years of recent and related occupational experience supporting persons with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder.Occupational experience that includes facilitating workshops or groups or with adult education would be considered an asset.You have experience and are proficient with computer applications such as Brightspace, Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Outlook, TEAMS, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your workExperience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation would be considered an assetExperience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an assetRelevant Skills and KnowledgeYou demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity and inclusionYou possess excellent interpersonal skills and are able to interact at all levels of an organization· You are known for superior customer service skills and are able to create a relationship of trust beyond the immediate interactionYour superb team working skills enable you to contribute positively to a team environmentYou have experience and skill in networking for employment/volunteer opportunities for persons with disabilitiesYou are known for your problem solving and critical thinking skillsYou are a strong communicatorYou possess excellent coordination skills specifically related to coordinating services, work, events, logistics, etc.You have proven records and information management skills and abilitiesYou have strong project management skillsYou demonstrate a strong commitment to excellenceYou are dedicated to life-long learning and actively pursue professional development opportunities to strengthen your practiceYou show a strong commitment to community involvementOther InformationCandidates selected for interviews will be expected to provide at least three recent occupational references.
