We are accepting applications for the position of Comptroller. Reporting to the Senior Administrator, the Comptroller is responsible for the fiscal operations of the ?Namgis First Nation as set out in the Financial Administration Law. ?Namgis First Nation is certified by the First Nations Financial Management Board.
*Job Responsibilities:*
· Financial and performance planning and reporting
· Overall responsibility in ensuring a properly operational accounting department
· Ensure the financial administration systems, policies, procedures and internal controls are appropriately designed and operating effectively
· Provide Quarterly Financial Statements to the Finance and Audit Committee
· Overall responsibility for all internal and external reporting requirements.
· Provide advice and assistance to the Council, Senior Administrator and Department Heads to ensure sound financial and administrative decisions
· Overall responsibility in ensuring that efficient manual and computerized financial systems and procedures are in place and operational and that proper internal controls are implemented and are functioning as intended
· Responsible for the supervision of the Accounting Supervisor and the IT Department Manager
· Liaise with Council members, Finance and Audit Committee members, senior administrators, department heads, staff and the general membership[JH1]
*Qualifications:*
· University degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
· Certified Aboriginal Financial Manager (CAFM) Designation an asset
· Professional Accounting Designation (CPA)
*Skills and Experience Requirements:*
· Minimum three years supervisory working experience in an accounting department, preferably within a First Nation organization
· Familiarity and experience with SharePoint, ChatGPT, EFT payments and a ?paperless? office environment is essential. Expert MS-Excel skills are mandatory.
· Sound leadership and supervisory skills with a commitment to develop and maintain a culture of trust, respect and empowerment[JH2]
· Ability to make decisions and assume responsibility and accountability for successful completion of assignments and tasks
· Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departmental staff
· Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills
· Ability to deliver results under pressure, against time constraints and in a rapidly changing environment
· Ability to handle critical, confidential and possibly stressful situations and information
Salary Range $119,355 - $140,758
Professional Member Dues (CPA and CAFM), Professional Development Fees, Employee Benefits and Matching Pension Plan are included in the employment package (all subject to successful completion of the probationary period).
