POSITION: <p> Licensed/ Certified Maintenance <p> Licensed Facilities Mechanic/ Carpenter <p> 40 hours per week<p> Monday-Friday, days LOCATION: <p> Bluewater District School Board, Maintenance Shop<p> R.R. 4 (Hwy #6)<p> Owen Sound <p> REPORTS TO: <p> Michael Spendik, Assistant Manager Plant Operations<p> Brent Wathke, Supervisor - Facilities Services <p> Kevin Schaab, Supervisor Building Systems <p> START DATE: <p> As soon as possible CUPE members must abide by all articles in the CUPE Local 1176 Collective Agreement. <p> DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The position will respond to repairs and maintenance needs of the system. Perform service, maintenance and other duties as assigned related to the repair and operation of the Boards buildings, equipment and sites. <p> Ability to work as a team player with excellent interpersonal skills<p> Capable of working under various levels of supervision, with other departments and other maintenance personnel (whether the Boards or contracted).<p> Ability to prioritize the order in which work orders are completed.<p> Must work with sensitivity to the educational environment within the Board.<p> Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.<p> Must be able to work with minimal supervision and to be competent in the use and care of tools and equipment common to the trade.<p> Keen problem-solving abilities in determining effective, efficient solutions and implementing appropriate courses of action. <p> EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Successful completion of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, preferably in a technical program.The applicant must be a Journeymans status, with a Certificate of Qualification from the Ministry of Education, Skills and Apprenticeship Branch as a general carpenter or facilities mechanic with experience directly related to the maintenance and repair of industrial/commercial or large institutional facilities. Minimum of four or more years of journeyman experience.<p> Knowledge and experience in the use of a wide variety of trade related and maintenance tools/ equipment.<p> Knowledge of associated government codes and demonstrated ability to work within those laws and guidelines.<p> Must be physically fit, capable of performing a variety of maintenance tasks tha
