<p>YORK CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD <p>Invites applications for the position of: <p>Occupational Therapist <p>OSSTF - PSSP 4 - $40.56 to $57.47 hourly rate (plus vacation pay) <p>One (1) Temporary Full Time Position - 1.0 FTE (35 hpw) <p>Effective August 26, 2024 to June 27, 2025 <p>Position Summary: <p>Under the direction of the Supervisor, Occupational and Physical Therapy Services, The Occupational Therapist will provide assessment, consultation and therapeutic programs for students with specials needs that include physical, neurological, medical, developmental and cognitive disabilities.Major Responsibilities: Assess and evaluate the functional level of the students motor skills and/or sensory needs as well as the physical environment to identify barriers to the student accessing the school environment.<p> Support educators involved with students with physical and/or cognitive challenges with developing special educational programs and strategies that encompass motor skills and/or sensory needs to maximize student success while ensuring and promoting independence.<p> Develop individual programs for students including curriculum adaptation, transitions to/from grades/schools or community programs and recommend accommodations and modifications to physical, social and academic environments.<p> Provide consultation to schools, parents, guardians, and community agencies in addressing visual perceptual, self-help skills, social skills, sensory needs, equipment needs, functional mobility, safety needs and transportation needs.<p> Participate as a member in multidisciplinary team meetings and IPRCS.<p> Build capacity in educators through in-servicing, one on one consultations, and modeling <p>Qualifications and Experience: Masters Degree or Bachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy;<p> Must be a licensed, registered member of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO);<p> Experience working with clients with multiple disabilities;<p> Experience with school-age children preferred;<p> Excellent oral and written communication skills;<p> Proficient computer skills;<p> Ability to work collaboratively with students, school personnel, parents and members of multi-disciplinary<p> teams within a number of school settings;<p> Understanding of the Education Act as it pertains to the identification and placement of exceptional learners; and<p> Demonstrated commitment to an environment which promotes equitable practices and values diversity.<p> Skills and Competencies: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills<p> Strong organizational skills<p> Ability to travel by car within York Region<p> Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team<p> Interested applicants may apply until the close of business on May 15, 2024 . <p>Thank you for your application.<p>We appreciate your interest in the York Catholic District School Board, however, only applicants selected to continue to the interview process will be contacted by Human Resources.<p>Commitment to Equity <p>YCDSB is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing an environment of diversity and employment equity and is dedicated to creating a workplace culture of inclusiveness that reflects the diverse communities that we serve.<p>We are proud to have built a culture that thrives on idea-sharing and collaboration, always finding ways to continue to create a warm, welcoming and inclusive work environment.
