<p>ITINERANT TEACHER: SAFE SCHOOLS <p>Term Position: <p> September 1, 2024 for up to 3 years (June 30, 2027) Subject to annual budget approval and/or annual system organization and Ministry funding continuance.<p>Position Summary: <p>The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board is seeking a passionate and committed Itinerant Safe Schools Teacher to work as part of our dedicated Team. This itinerant position involves close collaboration with our Mental Health and Wellbeing team, Alternative Education teachers, school principals, and teachers across the board. This role is crucial for providing individualized support and fostering a secure and inclusive educational environment for all students, particularly those on long-term suspension or expulsion.<p>Qualifications: <p> Basic : Intermediate/Senior Divisions<p>Additional : Safe and Accepting Schools; Special Education Specialist (preferred)<p>Experience : Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience, particularly in an alternative education setting.<p>Other : - Prior experience in teaching or supporting students<p>with emotional, social, or behavioral challenges.<p> - Training in Mental Health Literacy for educators is required. <p> -Certification in Safe-TALK, ASSIST, and VTRA preferred, with completion required within the first year of employment.<p> -Demonstrated ability to incorporate technology into teaching and learning activities.<p> - Strong Understanding of the Ministry and Board Mental Health Strategies.<p> - Thorough knowledge of assessment and evaluation practices. *Applicants who can become qualified prior to the start of the assignment shall be considered. <p>Duties and Responsibilities: Implement specialized lesson plans for students on long-term suspension or expulsion to ensure their continuous engagement and academic progression.<p> Provide education to various students throughout the district who are on long-term suspension, students who have entered the expulsion program and other formal withdrawal from school.<p> Collaborate with the Mental Health and Wellbeing team to create strategies that enhance student safety, wellness, and academic success.<p> Work one-on-one with students to address their specific educational needs in various settings.<p> Support the Attendance Counselor and the Wellness and Engagement Teacher in initiatives aimed at improving student attendance, engagement, and overall mental health.<p> Engage with Alternative Education teachers to assist students who may benefit from non-traditional educational approaches.<p> Maintain close cooperation with parents and families, equipping them with the necessary tools and information to support their children's academic and emotional needs.<p> Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance knowledge and skills in student mental health and well-being.<p> Participate in Student Action Plan Meetings <p> Liaise with school staff in providing program and assessment for students on long-term suspension, expulsion, or other formal withdrawal from school.<p> Serve on Board and external committees to support the Board Improvement Plan for Student Achievement and the Board's Multi-Year Strategic Plan.About Us <p>As a Catholic Learning Community, the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board provides faith formation and academic excellence, which enables our graduates to live a life of love and service in Christ.
