Job details
Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Dusty. Noisy. Work setting: Relocation costs not covered by employer. Metal product fabrication industry. Platework manufacturing company. Structural steel fabrication company. Tasks: Check products for correct shapes, dimensions and other specifications. Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment. Cut, bend, roll, ream, punch, drill, weld or otherwise shape and form metal stock into parts or products. Document work completed. Investigate problems to fix or make minor repair. Lay out, set up and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines. Read and interpret specifications or follow verbal instructions. Select and transport material to work area manually or using crane or hoist. Start up, shut down, set up and adjust process equipment or machines. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Not required. Forklift Operator Certification. Equipment and machinery experience: Bolters or screwdrivers (power). Brakes. Drills. Lifting device. Micrometers. Overhead crane. Riveters (power). Shears. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Hand tools. Press brakes and metalworking equipment. Metal forming or shaping operations experience: Bending. Flattening. Forming. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Fast-paced environment. Hand-eye co-ordination. Handling heavy loads. Manual dexterity. Overtime required. Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Standing for extended periods. Weight handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Excellent oral communication.
