*Job Summary: *
Reporting to the Manager, Finance, the Senior Accounting Analyst manages the organization?s financial reporting and external reporting requirements, delivers financial forecasts and budgets (both operating and capital) and liaises with external auditor.
*Responsibilities*:
* Coordinate monthly closing cycle and ensure timely preparation and distribution of internal financial statements and comparison of actuals to budget.
* Responsible for monthly financial reporting to the senior leadership team.
* Prepare financial results to the Finance Committees of the Board for SGH and SGHF.
* Ensure the timely and accurate reporting for external stakeholders, including monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reporting to funders and regulators (e.g. LHIN, MOH, City of Ottawa, Trillium, Canada Revenue Agency, and Statistics Canada).
* Reconcile externally reported revenue and expenses with internal financial statements, annually.
* Liaise with external auditor for year end audit. Prepare draft audited financial statements, including special reports required by funders.
* Manage and oversee the cash forecasting and liquidity management functions for the organizations. Ensure that both short-term and long-term resources are matched with organizational needs.
* Lead preparation and calendarization of operational and capital budget.
* Lead preparation of budgets for external funders.
* In conjunction with the Senior Manager, Finance and the Senior Manager, Facilities, manage and track capital projects; ensuring that milestones are met and expenditures are recorded accurately.
* As required, special ad hoc analyses and reports for management.
*Qualifications:*
* Post-secondary degree, preferably in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or a comparable field.
* Must have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a complex accounting environment with multiple funding sources.
* Advanced knowledge of accounting software, Excel and reporting software.
* Proficiency in using other Microsoft Office programs, including Access, Powerpoint and Word.
* Excellent problem solving, analytical and critical thinking
* Ability to meet strict deadlines on a regular basis and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
* Professional and discreet, with a strong sense of integrity. They must have the ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality of sensitive information.
* Great communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Knowledge of specialized accounting for Not-for-Profit organizations and knowledge of specialized standards for MOH and City reporting is an asset.
* Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
* Must by at least 18 years of age
* Able to read text and communicate orally in English. Ability to communicate in other languages is considered an asset.
*Working Conditions:*
The regular working schedule is Monday to Friday, during normal business hours. There is an expectation of flexibility in scheduling work around program needs that may occur from time to time during evenings and weekends. This role provides opportunity to work remotely and onsite as required. As a non-unionized employee in the organization, there is an expectation that the employee will manage their time accordingly and utilize flexible working hours where needed to make up for the times where exceptional hours may apply.
