*The Opportunity:*
Velma?s House is an Indigenous led, low-barrier safe space for women and gender diverse folks who are unsheltered, experiencing sexual exploitation or gender based violence. Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the *Administrative Coordinator* is responsible for day-to-day administration tasks such as collecting and distributing information, facilitating meetings, taking minutes and providing ongoing leadership support. Our safe space serves a place of comfort, connection, and safety, with an emphasis on meeting the immediate safety needs of those who need it most, when they need it most.
*What You Will Be Doing?*
* Providing as-needed reception support; greeting and hosting guests, answering phone calls and emails, and directing communication to the appropriate person;
* Receiving, sorting, and informing staff of mail, messages, and deliveries;
* Preparing spaces for meetings, building tours and site visits;
* Managing, ordering, and distributing inventory; office supplies, harm reduction tools and housekeeping products;
* Attending the Workplace Health and Safety Committee;
* Updating internal staff communications board(s);
* Managing, monitoring, and tracking donations;
* Data entry of high volume statistics;
* Creating monthly calendar of events for staff and guests;
* Assisting frontline staff in the drop in space by providing referral and resource information;
* Assisting in entry-level finance tasks, such as cheque requisitions, expenses, and purchase orders;
* Maintain strict confidence in all organizational policies and procedures
*Who You Are:*
* Demonstrated understanding of issues related to mental health, gender based violence, problematic substance use; sexual exploitation;
* Knowledgeable on resources and systems within Winnipeg;
* Commitment to cultural reclamation practices and Ways of Being, Two-Eyed Seeing;
* Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and written;
* Proficient in a variety of administrative tasks with a strong attention to detail and organization;
* Customer-service orientated and able to anticipate needs;
* Understanding of harm reduction principles and trauma informed care;
* Understanding on systems of oppression, able to apply anti-oppression measures;
* Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion; including issues impacting the 2SLGBTQ+ community;
* Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams);
* Highly proficient in interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills;
* Team player who is able to work safely and collaboratively in fast-paced and high-needs environments;
*You Have?*
* 1-3 years of related formal training (mental health, social work, family studies, gender-based violence, substance training, community health, etc.), work experience, and combined lived experience are all valued;
* Must be legally entitled to work in Canada;
* Satisfactory completion of recent (as of the last 6 months) Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search; Child Abuse Registry Check; Adult Abuse Registry check;
* Current Emergency First Aid Certificate and CPR;
* Non Violent Crisis Intervention or related Crisis Management Training;
* Opioid Reversal Training;
* Mental Health First Aid and ASIST training is an asset
* Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver?s License and access to a vehicle are considered assets
