Director of Instruction Vacancy <p> Competition # M-2324-004 <p>A leadership role designed to support, develop and enhance vibrant learning communities.<p>We provide world-class instruction and a rich diversity of engaging programs to inspire success for every student and bring communities together to learn, share and grow.<p>The Director of Instruction for Learning Services is responsible for the educational direction of up to two Families of Schools (FOS). This role includes working directly with the FOS Multi-disciplinary team to support school and educator development along the continuum of Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment, and Social-Emotional learning. Essential elements of this work are the school planning process, K-12 curriculum implementation, communicating student learning, and educational planning for students with complex needs.The successful candidate is: An Accomplished Leader who has a track record of success in bringing about positive change;<p> An Engaging, Thoughtful and Relational Individual; <p> Creative and Innovative ;<p> Collaborative and Team Oriented promoting and developing team at all levels to find common understanding and answers to complex educational issues;<p> Trustworthy, Honest, and Acts with Integrity ;<p> An Excellent Communicator with highly developed interpersonal skills; and, <p> Optimistic and a Steward for Public Schooling inspiring a positive culture with others about education and public schooling.The successful candidate will demonstrate the knowledge and skills to: implement progressive school-wide initiatives in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and social-emotional learning;<p> work effectively at the school, District and broader community level;<p> work effectively with both elementary and secondary school educators;<p> develop school strategic plans;<p> work in collaboration with all students, parents, employees and community partners;<p> facilitate complex educational planning meetings;<p> be a leader of change in support of students, staff and educational systems;<p> develop collaboration and networks of practice in a Family of Schools;<p> understand resource allocation at a school level;<p> review assessment and program related information to confirm ministry designation and allocate support accordingly;<p> lead school and district projects and initiatives;<p> resolve challenging parent questions and concerns in a respectful manner;<p> navigate complex decision-making processes that incorporate school board policy with actions that affect both parents and community partner groups;<p> address staff challenges;<p> support and develop school administrators through mentorship and plans of assistance;<p> supervise and evaluate school administrators;<p> form school and district administrative teams;<p> update and inform the Board of Education;<p> respectfully understand the politics of a school district and the larger community;The Director of Instruction is part of the extended district management team and reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent(s).
