*Job brief*
The Project Accountant will be responsible for the full cycle accounting for an assigned business unit within the organization. They will be responsible for working closely with the business unit to review and track the unit?s performance, including planning, budgeting, and financial reporting.
Requirements:
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in full cycle accounting/finance experience within a project-based accounting environment
* Degree in Accounting is required
* Excellent communication skills both written and spoken
* Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
* Strong user of Microsoft programs
* Experience with Netsuite system is preferred
* CPA Designation, or working towards that designation is a plus
Responsibilities:
For the assigned Business Unit (BU):
* Be the main point of contact for all matters related to the BU. Maintain the list of vendors, customers, and projects for the BU.
* Support project managers to build budget and track performance of all projects and the BU.
* Manage projects? financials in Netsuite from sale order to close out report. Develop a deep understanding of each project within the BU.
* Ensure all invoices and expenses reports for the BU are coded correctly and processed on a timely basis following the company procedures.
* Prepare client invoices in accordance with company procedures, client requirements and terms and conditions of the contract. Monitor invoice aging and manage cash collections with Project Managers.
* Provide periodic updates: labour hours, project cost, project profitability, project Work-in-progress, budget vs actual report to project managers and the VP of the BU.
* Prepare monthly BU?s financial reports for the controller and the executive team.
* Review all projects? pending issues (AR, AP, budget) with project managers.
* Prepare AR & AP reports for weekly AP and monthly sales tax report.
* Ensure all financial records are filed accordingly.
For Corporate
* Share the duty of managing team email and Sharepoint page.
* Develop personal goals and assist with setting team goals.
* Collaborate with other team members to reconcile Corporate monthly AR, AP and financial statements.
* Participate in month end, quarter end and year end process.
* Delegate tasks while away and support other team members while they are away.
* Support the Controller and other managers in various working documents & financial statement preparation files.
