Job details
Education: College/CEGEP. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Clinic. Work in employer's/client's home. Willing to relocate. Private practice. Vocational rehabilitation. Tasks: Interview clients, prepare case histories and assess problems. Prepare a treatment plan for each patient. Provide education to clients regarding health promotion and injury prevention, management and treatment. Provide therapy. Counsel individuals and groups to achieve more effective personal, social and vocational development and adjustment. Implement treatment plans. Perform administrative tasks. Analyze the patient during the treatments. Apply psychological theory and principles regarding behaviour and mental processes. Develop and implement counselling and intervention programs to assist clients in determining goals and means of attaining them. Maintain accurate records. Plan intervention programs. Follow up results of counselling programs and clients' adjustment. Administer standard psychological tests for assessment. Interpret test results. Prepare assessment, progress, follow-up and court reports. Help clients manage physical illness and disorders. Identify additional/alternative services and provide referrals. Liaise with community agencies or partners, and identify additional or alternative services and provide referrals. Maintain clinical and progress reports. Evaluate treatment progress. Develop and implement treatment programs. Analyse clients' capabilities and expectations related to life activities through observation, interviews and formal assessments. Consult and advise on health promotion programs to prevent disabilities and to maximize independent function in all activities of life.
