*FTE: *Permanent, Full-Time

*Salary: *$35.97- $44.99 Per Hour
*Start Date/Term Length:* Commencing Immediatley
*About The Position:*
The primary responsibility of the Operational Stress Injury (OSI) clinic Social Worker is to provide evidence-based (group and individual) therapy, for a range of mental health and addictions conditions to Veterans, active and retired RCMP members, and their families struggling with Operational Stress Injuries and related conditions. Services include but are not limited to; trauma/PTSD, addiction, anxiety, depression, and personality disorders. Services will also include; providing education to allied professionals and community partners related to operational stress injuries and the services provided at the clinic and providing evidence-based couples therapy to clients and their partners.
*Duties will include:*
- Accurately assess and or classify the client?s condition and presenting problem by taking into consideration the environment, individual, family, and social context as it presents.
- Complete the initial assessment with the client, ensuring consideration of the biological, social, psychological, and environmental factors that contribute to or influence the presenting problem by looking at developmental, social, and educational history, including the history of individual or family mental health or addiction symptoms, diagnoses, or interventions;
- Review of previous services or interventions, client strengths, and client goals, client?s current functioning, including relationships with others;
- Assess the client?s coping strategies, including stability, adaptability, understanding, and evaluation of the presenting problem;
- Administer tools to assess behavioral and cognitive abilities, and mental health conditions and disorders within the scope of practice;
- Responding to and dealing with urgent calls from clients and their families in a crisis situation;
- Organize and facilitate evidence-based therapy to groups, couples, as well as individuals.
- Provide case consultation and planning addressing the clients? mental health needs with the goals of recovery and discharge utilizing best practices and evidence-based approaches.
- Preparation of case notes and report writing to fulfill the requirements of Veterans? Affairs, Horizon Health, and HPEI MH&A and to support the above-undertaken therapy. Ensure assessment and treatment plan information is documented and distributed according to departmental requirements and standards of client care.
- Participate in providing staff training, workshops, and information sessions (i.e. to the community and other health care professionals)
- Other duties as required.
*Minimum Qualifications:*
- Master?s degree in Social Work
- Must be registered and a member in good standing with the PEI Social Work Registration Board.
- Considerable experience in providing individual, family, and group therapy is required
- Clinical experience in the area of operational stress injuries
- Extensive knowledge of mental health assessments and treatment modalities;
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams; program and community development; and extensive case management.
- Crisis Intervention skills, conflict resolution skills, and capacity to respond to trauma;
- The social worker is expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy and independence.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, conflict resolution and negotiation skills, ability to handle crisis situations, and capability to lead, as appropriate, group therapy sessions
- Must have a good work and attendance record.
