Job details
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Noisy. Tasks: Compute dimensions, sizes, shapes and tolerances of workpieces . Inspect final products. Set up machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders. Test prototypes and production tools. Verify machined parts for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Program CNC machine tools. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Set up and operate electrical discharge machines (EDM). Lay out, shape and assemble patterns of metal, wood, plastic and other materials from blueprints, models or templates. Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Tool and Die Maker Trade Certification. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Handling heavy loads. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Standing for extended periods. Overtime required. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Accurate. Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication.
