Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Surveying technology/surveying. Civil drafting and civil engineering CAD/CADD. Engineering technologies and engineering-related fields, other. or equivalent experience. Tasks: Develop survey plans, methods and procedures for conducting legal surveys. Supervise other land surveyors and/or field crews. Plan, direct and supervise or conduct surveys to establish legal boundaries of properties. Record all measurements and other information obtained during survey activities. Analyze, manage and display data using geographic information systems and computer-aided design and drafting. Determine precise locations using electronic distance measuring equipment. Survey and lay out subdivisions for rural and urban development. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Computer and technology knowledge: AutoCAD. MS Access. MS Excel. MS Outlook. MS Word. Technical experience: Mapping and surveying. Field skills experience: Operate survey equipment. Operate total station to obtain information about property boundaries. Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Survey specialization: Construction. Engineering. General urban. Land development. Mining claims. Subdivisions. Topographic. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Parking paid by employer. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Tight deadlines. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Combination of sitting, standing, walking.
