We are seeking a talented and experienced Chef to lead our culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences. The Executive Chef will oversee food service at 2 Personal Care Home locations in St. John's. The Executive Chef leads a motivated team devoted to providing residents with nutritious and appetizing meals that cater to their individual dietary needs. Chef will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Kitchen and dining staff, as well as for managing budget and client experience.
This role requires a creative individual with strong leadership skills to inspire and mentor our food and beverage team.
*The Chef will be responsible for:*
* Responsible for recruitment, hiring, orientation and ongoing mentorship of cooks and service staff.
* Daily operations such as preparation, cooking, presentation of food for residents.
* Supervises and supports Cooks and dietary staff, as needed.
* Provides ongoing oversite of food production (2-3 days ahead)
* Establishing and monitoring workflow, evaluating performance and production, and making changes as necessary to improve quality of service.
* Prepares or monitors the preparation of service daily and special event menu plans to ensure individual resident dietary needs are met
* Preparing menu?s that adhere to the health authority?s guidelines through consultation with Eastern Health dietitian to determine appropriate menu for dietary needs.
* Sourcing and ordering products from suppliers while operating within budgetary requirements
* Coordinate and assist with special events and catering
* Hosts Food and Beverage Committee meetings (monthly, 10 per year min) and works with residents to identify and mitigate challenges
* Attends training and management meetings as required
*The ideal candidate will possess*:
* Preference given to Red Seal Chef candidates
* 5 years experience in kitchen management
* Experience working with seniors is an asset
* Ability to relate to all levels of staff, the residents and their families, and other professionals with a high degree of patience and tolerance
* Strong communication skills; both oral and written
* Initiative, good judgment and supervisory abilities
* Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors and ability to treat residents with an abundance of respect, dignity, and care
* Ability to adhere to a budget while providing best in class meals to residents and guests.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
