School District No. 57 (Prince George) <p>TITLE: REPLACEMENT SENIOR PAYROLL CLERK - B (CUPE) <p>POSITION NOTES: 35 hours per week <p>DEPARTMENT: Payroll Department <p>REPORTS TO: Payroll Supervisor <p>SUMMARY: <p>With minimal direction the Senior Payroll Clerk is responsible for the preparation of one or more of the School District's payrolls. He/she works cooperatively with other employees and the public. <p>DUTIES: Inputs and retrieves data on the computer such as information relating to new employees, changes in employee status, and hours worked, terminations and employee accruals. Audits PIFs from personnel before input and makes adjustment to employee files. <p> Generates pay calculations, produces payroll registers and completes payroll by deadlines. <p> Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of employee contracts and collective agreements. <p> Maintains records and makes necessary adjustments for items such as sick leave, vacation, employee increments, absentees, and payroll deductions and earnings, and Workers Compensation Board payments. Fills out and checks employer Form 7 reports for accuracy prior to WCB acceptance. <p> Calculates earnings for WCB for employees on long term WCB. <p> Distributes, collects and ensures accuracy of timesheets and absentee reports and leave applications before data entry, and distributes CUPE payroll as appropriate to other payroll personnel for entry. <p> Provide training sessions to district staff on how to use electronic timesheets and other related electronic services used to collect payroll related data. <p> Answers enquiries and relays messages to and from staff, external agencies and the public by computer, telephone, mail, facsimile, or in person. <p> Prepares and prints Records of Employment as required by employees and Canada Employment Centre, Short Term Disability, claims TD-1 adjustments. Calculates payouts such as sick leave, vacation on termination. <p> Files and sorts a variety of materials such as timesheets, payroll reports and memoranda. <p> Duplicates, sorts, collates and staples materials for distribution and data entry. <p> Assists the Payroll Supervisor as required including answering inquiries in her absence. <p> Lifts and moves office and paper supplies in print room and in general office area. <p> Performs other clerical or emergent duties relating to position. <p> Transmits payrolls in the Supervisor's absence. <p> Prepares cheques for Revenue Canada and pension in the Supervisor's absence. <p> Liaises with school secretaries and HR department on an ongoing basis regarding Payroll changes and forms completions. <p> Prepares cheques for outside agencies as necessary. <p> Generates and distributes timesheets and pay statements on hi-impact printer. <p> Cancels and reissues paycheques through payroll system. <p> Prepares and processes short term disability claims for CUPE and CMAW employees. <p> Intervenes in the SDS payroll system to produce manual cheques and advances as required. <p> Calculates and inputs manual adjustments arising from payroll input form information. <p> Calculates and inputs all adjustments for employees transferring from one job class to another re LOS, vacation entitlement and sick entitlement. <p> Insures that pay calculations are accurate. <p> Other related payroll duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY, SKILLS (Senior Payroll Clerk B) High school graduation or equivalent. <p> Completion of 4 courses equivelant to PCP (Payroll Compliance Program) <p> Five years experience working within a large automated payroll environment; with at least two years of this experience within the past five years. <p> Inte
