Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Outdoors. Noisy. Work setting: Construction. Maintenance. Repair. Custom Work. Renovation. Assembly. Commercial. Residential. Demolition. Tasks: Prepare production and other reports. Resolve work problems, provide technical advice and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality. Read blueprints and drawings. Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies. Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets. Load, unload and transport construction materials. Build and repair wooden frames used to mould concrete products. Assist with landscape constructions. Work with minimal supervision. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Perform other routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repair. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments. Supervision: Carpenters. Trades helpers. Labourers. Working groups. Staff in various areas of responsibility. Drywall installers and finishers. Surface preparation experience: Drywall taping/patching. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Repetitive tasks. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat. Safety glasses/goggles. Safety vest.
