Mining Industry N.L says the proposed Churchill Falls hydro deal could mean big gains for the energy intensive sector which needs the power boost to expand projects and reach decarbonization goals by electrifying their operations. Mining is the second largest contributor to N.L.’s GDP at 7.3% with about 8,000 person hours of employment in 2024.
