The Government of B.C. has launched the BC Builds initiative, committing $2 billion in low-cost financing and $950 for the overall program delivering more homes for middle-income people. The initiative supports projects on public and non-profit owned land, and while detailed estimates of units created through BC Builds are not available, 20 projects providing up to 4,000 units have been identified.

BC Housing has selected non-profit operators for two temporary housing projects in Kelowna. The project is expected to provide 120 supportive homes for people experiencing homelessness. The homes are expected to be complete in Feburary and March 2024. The non-profit organizations will support services including 24/7 staffing, meals, and skills training.
