The City of Winnipeg will soon require its staff to work in the office at least three days per week. Currently about 1,650 of the city’s 10,400 employees work remotely at least part of the time. Some city councillors believe the change will be good for the downtown economy, while the union representing City workers worries the new requirement will hinder recruitment and retention efforts.
The governments of Canada and Manitoba are providing a combined $986,000 to Ndinawemaaganag Endaawaad, a Winnipeg organization serving at-risk youth. The funds will be used to provide programming and public health services at Tina's Safe Haven, the non-profit's 24-hour drop-in centre.
