The UFA Agricultural Community Foundation has expanded the communities eligible for its grants to rural communities through a new program. Communities across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and western Manitoba will now be able to apply for the $100K grant for projects that improve recreation, education and culture in agricultural communities.
The federal and provincial governments are providing $800,000 to create a new childcare centre in Cawston. The childcare centre can accommodate 24 children during daytime and 30 children before and after school hours. The centre is expected to be available by September.

The B.C. government provided $47,600 to the Queensborough Community Centre in New Westminster to upgrade furnishings and equipment. The child care centre offers 24 licensed spaces for school-age children near an elementary school.
