Malahat Nation and Energy Plug Corp. have partnered to build Canada's largest and first Indigenous-owned battery plant. The plant is expected to be completed in 2025 and create more than 100 jobs. Battery products will cater to both commercial and residential needs, and the strategic location in a Free Trade Zone will help the plant connect with Asia, the United States, and Latin America.

Surrey-based EXO Construction has been awarded the contract from Sooke school district to construct prefabricated classroom spaces for students. The district received $24 million in provincial funding to address the over 40% growth in student population over the last 15 years.
